Located less than a mile from Highway 1 in the city of Santa Cruz, Coastal Haven is conveniently located near a vibrant downtown, yet offers many outdoor recreational opportunities available in this coastal city. A beautiful natural setting, Pogonip creek borders our property and offers a rich habitat of willow and redwood trees, as well as species of California oak. Local protected redwood forests are only minutes away and the famous Santa Cruz beach and boardwalk are also easily accessed. Our city is also home to the University of California Santa Cruz as well as Cabrillo College and both campuses are exciting places for life-long learning. The many cultural offerings of UCSC and Cabrillo mean music, dance, and theater are all available. Medical care is available through Sutter Health Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, and Dominican Hospital. More information about our location can be found here:

Tannery Arts Center

A quarter mile away is the Tannery Arts Center,  a vibrant home for the arts in Santa Cruz County. The Tannery is home to the Arts Council Santa Cruz County, Jewel Theatre Company, and the Colligan Theater, as well as the Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center and 28 separate studio spaces for professional artists to create, display, and sell their art.

Common Roots Farm is adjacent to our housing and is a non-profit, organic farm providing meaningful volunteer and work opportunities to the Santa Cruz community with accessibility as a founding principle.

Downtown Santa Cruz

A mile from our pocket neighborhood are the many shops, cafes, restaurants, and the new Abbott Square and Museum of Art offering many opportunities for dining, entertainment, and shopping in downtown Santa Cruz.

Beach Boardwalk

Adjacent to Cowell Beach, renowned for its excellent surfing, is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Featuring many rides and attractions, the Boardwalk offers family fun, musical entertainment, and year-round special events where staff are available to assist with accessing the Boardwalk's activities for those with disabilities.

Pogonip Open Space & Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

At the end of Golf Club Drive lies 640 acres of open space known as Pogonip. Over 11 miles of hiking trails connect to UC Santa Cruz and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, with about three miles open to multi-use for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. All can enjoy this natural setting for outdoor recreation and those with more ambition can reach the redwood forest of Henry Cowell Redwood State Park through Pogonip.
